WHY I DON'T START PUPPY CLASSES UNTIL 16 WEEKS
I know people are in a big rush to start training' their puppies as soon as they get them home. However, you need to make sure you are focusing on the things that are crucial to your puppy at this young age- namely, socialization, crate training, potty training and preventing separation anxiety. All of these things are most successfully done BEFORE the age of 16 weeks. Especially socialization, as the chances of successfully socializing an older dog are limited. Socialization is so much more than exposure to other dogs and people. Its taking the dog with you to new places and surroundings every single day, introducing new objects, noises, surfaces to walk on, etc. etc.. In my opinion, this is more than enough for you to work on at this critical time. Your dog will not suffer if you don't start teaching sit, down, stay, walk on a loose leash, etc. until they are older but they will suffer if you don't socialize them, crate and house train them and teach them how to be alone without being lonely.
