My Credentials
I have been involved with dogs in a professional capacity my entire adult life. I have been a professional groomer of all breeds for over 30 years and began my career in obedience in 1984 when I took my first pomeranian puppy- Cody - to obedience classes.
We took basically the same course I teach today and graduated at the top of our class of 14 dogs, and I was hooked from that point on. We took more advanced classes and began competing in Canadian Kennel Club obedience trials, earning many top scores and obedience titles.
Cody earned the title of top obedience pomeranian in Canada for 1986. During this time I began to apprentice as a trainer and teach classes at the school where I started, operated by a licensed Canadian Kennel Club obedience judge with over 40 years experience who just recently retired.
Over the next 18 years, I became her lead instructor and taught over 1000 people how to train their dogs. In the early 1990's when puppy classes became popular, I wrote the outline and lessons for that course and instructed it.
I got my next pomeranian puppy, Zorro, in 1995 and he became my little superstar, earning many top scores and obedience titles and becoming the top obedience pomeranian in Canada for 1997 and #2 in 1998.
My next dog Napoleon, adopted us at age 3. Although he became very well trained, he was not interested in competing and was content to assist me in teaching others.
We moved to the island in 2009 and I resumed teaching a few years later. I have been involved in the sport of Agility with our current dog, Taylor for six years.
